Short vacation Black Forest: four days hiking at Notschrei, Feldberg, Wutach – gorge

4 Days

Your trip

Look forward to an extended hiking weekend in the beautiful Black Forest. This short vacation combines active nature experience with relaxation and culture.

In the most beautiful Black Forest romance, in the valley of the Höllental railroad of the southern Upper Black Forest between Freiburg and Lake Titisee, we offer you 4 days of relaxation and active recreation. You will stay in a typical Black Forest family hotel of the 3-star category in Kirchzarten an der Breisam.

In the organization of the days you are completely free. We propose you two quite massive hikes. They guide you
> up to the highest point in Baden Württemberg, the Feldberg
> and into the Grand Canyon of the Black Forest, the Wutach – and the Gaubach Gorge.

But you can also shorten both routes with the train and the hiking bus – or alternatively take the Höllentalbahn for a day to Freiburg or to Titisee and Schluchsee. Hike – relax. Just as you like.

Accommodation

You will stay in hotels of good 3*** category with wellness area and sauna. The selected houses are located in the valley of the Dreisam in the winter towns along the Höllentalbahn from Freiburg to Titisee. Please pay tourist tax, if due, directly on site.

The rooms are individually decorated: from simple and functional to spacious and sophisticated, you can choose between two categories or suites. The latter we ask you to request when booking. The rooms mostly have a balcony and are actually all very quiet.

All rooms are exclusively non-smoking. They have 120cm or 140cm box spring beds, shower, WC, safe, minibar, telephone, flat screen TV, hairdryer and are mostly equipped with I-Pod docking station.

Catering

The price of the trip includes a rich breakfast buffet every day.

You can also have an excellent dinner at your hotel. However, we have not included this in the base price to leave you the flexibility to choose.

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

At the starting hotel you will receive the KONUS card. This allows you to use trains and buses free of charge during your entire trip. In the evening, explore the valley, the southern Baden university city of Freiburg, Lake Titisee, Lake Schluchsee or treat yourself to a day off for this. The area of application extends over the entire Black Forest to the High Rhine and the bordering Lake Constance region. A plus in flexibility!

The
bus 271 7215
shuttles between Freiburg and Todtnau. It takes you every hour from the center of Kirchzarten(stop elementary school) to the starting point of our first hiking proposal, stop Nordic-Center Notschrei, direction Todtnau. You can view the current plan at the hotel or, for example, at www.bahn.de.

The S-Bahn 10 of the Höllentalbahn takes you – mostly every hour – in just under an hour’s travel time from Kirchzarten station to the starting point of our second hiking suggestion, the Two Gorges Tour Wutach and Gaubach.

Please inquire about the current travel times and any special features of the day at www.bahn.de, for example, before starting your journey.

Arrival

By train

> From the west via Freiburg, from the east via Donaueschingen, drive to Kirchzarten station near Freiburg. Timetables and tickets at www.deutschebahn.de

By car

> You arrive at Freiburg via the Rhine Valley highways and then drive the Höllental valley in the direction of Titisee until you reach Kirchzarten.

> Parking: a free unguarded parking lot is available on the hotel premises for the duration of your trip.

Requirements & route

In the organization of the days you are, as I said, completely free.

The two hikes we propose to you are both quite demanding. Please leave in time for the bus in the morning (Day 1 ->
Bus 271 7215
direction Todtnau Notschrei) or to the train (S10 direction Villingen Schwenningen, Donaueschingen to station Löffingen).

You are on the way on up to 1,500 meters of altitude. The hike on day 1 takes about 7 – 8 hours, the 2 gorges tour on day 2 takes about 8 to 9 hours.

All trips that we suggest you by bus and train, you have already paid with the KONUS card.
